Māori achievement in a mainstream school

In this article, in the September 2012 edition of The New Zealand Principal, Liz Hawes talks to the principal of Te Akau ki Papamoa School about factors that have led to raising Māori students’ achievement. Liz looks at the school’s values, its inclusion of whānau, teacher development, and curriculum focus.

The New Zealand Principal is the New Zealand Principals' Federation’s quarterly magazine and covers recent research relevant to leaders and schools, and regular columns on current issues and rural school life.  Each issue profiles a school principal and includes both an editorial and President's column.
